Agricola Red Triangle and Grove Hi Tech battled to a 0-0 draw in the top of the table clash, Kuru Kururu Warriors recorded back to back wins to storm to third place, while Diamond Upsetters also played unbeaten when the East Bank Football Association (EBFA) leg of the GFF/Pele Alumini Frank Watson U15 Intra Association League continued with day 8 and 9 last weekend at the Timehri Red Ground, East Bank Demerara.
Swan FC recorded the largest margin of victory to date when they hammered Diamond United 13-0 bettering the 13-1 score line that Herstelling Raiders had inflicted on the same opposition {Diamond United} on January 27, last.
The weekend got started with a grueling 0-0 draw between Agricola and Grove on Saturday morning, both teams tried their best to outdo each other but were not able to breach each other’s defence, let alone score.
The one point each team received for the draw kept them in the top two positions, a single point apart.
Mocha Champs and Diamond Upsetters also battled to a similar 0-0 draw in the second match on Saturday but then the goal drought was broken when Kuru Kururu Warriors took the field to match skills with the previously unbeaten Samatta Point/Kaneville.
The Warriors were in very dismissive mode as they went on to hand Samatta Point their first loss of the competition, triumphing 3-0. All the goals came off the boot of the Warriors’ leading goal scorer, Kevon Scott who hit the target in the 2nd, 22nd and 30th minutes.
Saturday’s action was wrapped up with Friendship needling Swan through a Tkome McLean goal in the 13th minute.
On Sunday, Swan quickly dusted off the memories of their loss to Friendship and went on to record the largest margin of victory when the new kids on the block swamped Diamond United, 13-0.
Leading the way was Kevin Daniels with a helmet-trick (12, 21, 45, 65), Azeem Calistro recorded a hat-trick (18, 28, 58), Joshua Joseph (6, 51) and Edson Williams (36, 62) tucked in a brace each, while there was one each for Christoph Roberts (63) and Mark Loncke in the final minute of the match, 70th.
Kuru Kururu Warriors capped a satisfying weekend when they edged out Soesdyke Falcons 3-2 in an exciting exchange. Soesdyke ran away early leaders when they got back to back goals from Lloyd Bartholomew in the 3rd minute and Tyrone Cameron in the 15th minute.
But just as Soesdyke did, the Warriors, still smarting from their win on Saturday against Samatta Point, finally got their composure intact and went on a three goal burst within a five minute period.
Shaquille Agard it was who fired in their first goal on 20 minutes and from thereon, their leading marksman, Kevon Scott converted the equaliser followed by the winning goal in the 22nd and 25th minutes, his sixth goal in as many matches to ensure the Warriors took full points coming from behind.
The final match on Sunday saw Diamond Upsetters being awarded full points as Friendship All Stars, did not put in an appearance. Matches will continue this weekend at the same venue with match day 10 and 11.
