The President, Executives and Members of the Berbice Cricket Board would like to congratulate Shimron Hetmyer of the Young Warriors Cricket Club and Devendra Bishoo of the Albion Cricket Club on their selection to the West Indies Team for the upcoming ICC World Cup Qualifiers to be played in Zimbabwe. The Berbice Cricket Board is quite confident that the duo would represent the ancient county with pride, passion, commitment and emerge as the best batsman and best bowler respectively at the end of the tournament, a release from the board stated yesterday.
Both Bishoo and Hetmyer are role models to their peers in Berbice and the BCB is confident that the young generation of the upcoming players would be inspired to follow in their footsteps. The Berbice Cricket Board would also like to express congrats to the Berbice players who were part of the Guyana One Day Cricket Team which reached the semifinals of the Regional One Day Tournament. The entire Berbice salutes Veerasammy Permaul, Shimron Hetmyer, Devendra Bishoo, Clinton Pestano, Anthony Bramble, Gudakesh Motie, Romario Shepherd and Paul Wintz on their outstanding performances. All of us are very proud of each one of them and we are confident that they would continue to inspire the next generation of players, the release noted.
The newly elected Executives of Guyana’s oldest county Board would like to reassure players that they would work along with each of them to make sure that their full potentials and most importantly that their cricketing interest are looked after.
The Berbice Cricket Board would protect all of their players and would like to place on record their disappointment that neither Anthony Bramble or Veerasammy Permaul were selected in the West Indies ‘A’ Team to play England ‘A’. Both Bramble and Permaul in the 2017/2018 Cricket Season have been outstanding and should be selected based on discipline and performance. The Berbice Cricket Board would like to encourage them to keep knocking on the door and their efforts shall one day be rewarded
