The ongoing efforts of the ten cricket teams of Guyana’s leading Youth and Sports Organisation, the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club (RHTY&SC), to get youths to Say No to Suicide on Tuesday last received a huge boost with a donation from The Chief Brand.
The Trinidad based Brand which is distributed locally by Ansa Mcal (Guy) Ltd, donated a large quantity of Say No to Suicide Tee Shirts to the club.
Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster received the donation along with Assistant Secretary Simon Naidu and Vice President Mark Papannah and hailed the assistance of The Chief Brand as ‘Simply Remarkable’.
Foster also recognised the cooperation of Guyana’s High Commissioner to Trinidad & Tobago Mr. Cammie Ramsaroop and his staff for the roles they played in obtaining the donation. The Tee shirts which will promote the Message, ‘Say No to Suicide – Yes to Life’ would be worn by Management and Members of the club during all its official events.
The Say No to Suicide Message forms a widespread Say No/Say Yes Programme which targets 60, 000 youths in Berbice. The main objectives are to get youths to Say No to Drugs, Suicide, Alcohol, Crime, Tobacco and Yes to Life, Education, Sports, Culture and Religion.
Under this campaign, the cricket teams this year would be involved in a number of activities including a movable Inter-Village Play Park, Youth Inspirational Forum, Sports Tournaments, Educational Competitions, Mash Parade, Publication of Youth Information Booklet, Annual Cricket Academy, Career Fair, Educational Summer Camp and the Installment of Billboard, among others.
Some of the Tee shirts would also be used as gifts for winners of the various educational tournaments. The Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club has also expressed gratitude to Mr. Kelvin Singh and Ms. Tami Singh of the Carib Brand for their assistance.
Meanwhile, the club also received donations from VNet Communication and Mike’s Pharmacy. VNet Communication handed over a number of internal games that would be given to the New Amsterdam Prison while Mike’s Pharmacy contributed medical supplies for the club’s First Aid Box.
Gratitude was expressed to Mr. Sharaf Sheriffudeen of VNet and Mr. Lakeram Singh of Mike’s Pharmacy.
