Businessman Siri Persaud, General Manager of GuyGas, has penned a letter of apology to President David Granger for placement of the controversial “GoInvest elsewhere” advertisement in the newspapers.
The businessman in the letter, which was read by State Minister, Joseph Harmon yesterday, said the advertisement was not meant to dissuade investors, but to highlight what he believes are the shortcomings of the Guyana Office for Investment (GO-Invest).
Persaud claims that GO-Invest failed to fairly and equally represent him as a local investor
“… and its genesis arose out of my sheer frustration in dealing with that agency”.
The businessman apologised for the content of the advertisement and its corresponding effects, including any embarrassment it caused the country and the government.
The advertisement, which was published during the hosting of the inaugural Guyana International Petroleum Summit and Exhibition (GIPEX) ,was condemned at the time by Minister Harmon, Finance Minister, Winston Jordan, GO-Invest’s Chief Executive Officer, Owen Verwey and other prominent business persons, who deemed it as anti-national.
