The newly elective executive committee of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) has already gotten down to business just two days after being elected.
The new body was elected on Sunday at a meeting held at the New Amsterdam Town Hall which was ordered by the High Court.
The meeting will be held in the BCB Office in Charlotte Street, New Amsterdam.
President Hilbert Foster has promised to transform the board and make it the best in Guyana and one of the better ones in the Caribbean. He has promised between 13 and 15 tournaments before the end of the year with cricket being played from U13 right up to senior level.
Female cricket and school competitions will be given attention while Inter Zone cricket will also be played. Foster stated in a recent interview that six sponsors are already on board.
The other members elected to the Executive Committee are Albert Smith, Jevaughn Stephen and Qualis Winter serving as Vice Presidents. Rabindranauth Saywack is the Secretary, Ameer Rahaman Assistant Secretary. Doctor Cecil Beharry will occupy the position as Treasurer and Winston Roberts serving as the Assistant Treasurer.
Angela Haniff and Albert Smith along with President and Secretary will represent the BCB at the GCB level.
Other executive members are expected to be appointed today, while committees are also expected to be named. Plans for the board’s advancement are also expected to be extensively discussed.
Foster has stated that he plans to make the board as transparent as possible.
The BCB is calling on all clubs to get themselves prepared as cricket action will begin soon throughout the County. (Samuel Whyte)
