A post-mortem (PM) examination conducted on the remains of accident victim, Donneikel “Mogo” Campbelle, revealed that the injuries sustained were consistent with that of a motor vehicle accident.
This was confirmed by the police in a statement which detailed that the PM was performed yesterday by Dr. Nehaul Singh at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
Campbelle, 27, of Lot 23 Ann’s Grove, East Coast Demerara, was struck down around 01:00 hrs on Sunday morning after he reportedly walked into the path of motorcar PRR 5279. The vehicle was at the time being driven by a 40-year-old resident of Company Path, Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
According to information, the car was proceeding west along the southern carriageway of Vreed-en-Hoop public road when Campbelle allegedly ran across the road from north to south and was struck by the vehicle.
Campbelle sustained injuries to his head and body. He was picked up by public spirited persons and rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital (WDRH) in a conscious state. He died while receiving treatment at the hospital.
The driver was taken into police custody.
