Guyana is attempting to move in line with a number of developed countries when it comes to vehicles’ number plates.
According to Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA), it is now inviting Expressions of Interest (EoI) that will see proposals for new Motor Vehicle Registration/Number Plate System.
The submissions will have to be made to the GRA headquarters on Camp Street.
GRA said that vendors must submit their proposals no later than Thursday, March 15, 2018 to the Head of the Law Enforcement and Investigation Division, Guyana Revenue Authority.
“The vendor must be an experienced supplier of highly secured Motor Vehicle Registration/Number Plates solution. Proof of previous work and references from previous clients must also be submitted,” according to the notice.
The authority noted that persons who would have submitted previous proposals are invited to make updated submissions.
The Terms of Reference (TOR) can be uplifted from the above named unit.
A number of Caribbean territories have joined other countries with special numbers plates that are sold annually or biennially to owners of vehicles.
In addition to raising revenues, the project which has been mulled by GRA for a while now, is geared towards reducing the incidences of fake numbers of cars.
Criminals have been capitalising on this.
With independent artists plying their trade across the country, the easy access to plates have been proving a problem to law enforcement officials.
Government has been toying with the idea of special number plates for its vehicles, but the project appeared to have stalled.
A number of companies have made proposals to the administration for specially made number plates.
