Kyle Goddett, the 21-year-old who is believed to be the prime suspect in the attempted murder of his ex-girlfriend, Susana Culpepper, was yesterday granted bail in the sum of $700,000 for two separate charges.
Goddett, after appearing yesterday before Magistrate Crystal Lambert, in the Suddie Magistrate’s court, was granted bail on two separate charges; attempted murder and escape from lawful custody.
The first charge read that on February 3, Goddett, at Charity Extension Scheme, Essequibo Coast, unlawfully and maliciously wounded Susana Culpepper in an attempt to commit murder. To this charge, Goddett pleaded not guilty.
The second charge read against him, stated that on Sunday February 4, Goddett escaped from lawful custody while facing the charge of attempted murder. To this charge, the young man also pleaded not guilty.
Goddett was represented by his attorney in court, yesterday, who made an application for reasonable bail. His attorney cited that her client is not a flight risk, since he has a fixed place of residence, which is located at Lot 357 Charity Scheme.
In the case of escaping lawful custody, his attorney noted that he was later returned by his parents, shortly after the incident had occurred. She added that the complainant is in a very stable condition and that there is no evidence that there is a threat to her life.
After careful deliberation, Magistrate Lambert granted Goddett $500,000 bail on the charge of attempted murder and $200,000 bail for the charge of escaping lawful custody.
Goddett is expected to reappear in court on the 12th March.
