A 27-year-old man from Nelson Street, Port of Spain, was due in court on Monday, charged with the daytime murder of a Guyanese national on January 18, last.
Josimar Chase is expected to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate, where he will also face charges of shooting with intent to cause grievous bodily harm against a friend of the victim, along with charges of possession of firearm and possession of ammunition, according to a Looptt.com report.
According to reports, Luke Adams, 19, a Guyanese national, who lived at Piccadilly Street, Port of Spain, and his 19-year-old male friend, of East Dry River, Port of Spain, were passengers in a blue Mitsubishi Lancer, which was travelling along Duke Street, when they were approached by an armed man.
The suspect fired several shots at the moving vehicle, hitting Adams and his friend several times.
The driver of the vehicle, in an attempt to escape, drove west along Duke Street, before the vehicle crashed onto the pavement on Charlotte Street.
Adams was taken to hospital where he later died. Investigations were spearheaded by W/ASP (Ag.) Suzette Martin and supervised by Insp. Arnold Lutchman and including Insp. Creighton Hudson.
Charges were laid against Chase following advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
