Dear Editor,
GTT is in need of major improvements as it relates to their overall service. However I am writing today to zoom in on one service in particular. I signed up and paid for the “BLAZE” internet service in the middle of November 2017 being my only option for internet since I recently moved and do not have a landline which is needed to apply for DSL internet service and I was already informed that GTT is not issuing landlines at the moment.
It is now February 2018 and to date a technician has not visited my home to commence installation that has been paid for since October 2017 although the service is already being offered to some in my neighbourhood.
After standing in a line for almost an hour because of the slow pace of staff at the GTT office on Brickdam to apply and pay for my service to be installed, one month later I was forced to join the same line for almost another hour.
I was there just to query my lengthy wait for service. I was told that they cannot say when a technician will visit my home but I will be contacted beforehand. Several calls to GTT customer service were also placed only to hear the common line “We are not in a position to say when your service will be installed, but it should be soon”.
I think I speak on behalf of most Guyanese when I say GTT needs competition, for that is the only time they will get their act together.
As for me, I continue to wait.
