Oronoque Slingerz FC crowned MSC football champs

Jamal James scored a hat-trick to lead Oronoque Slingerz FC a 5-1 victory over Matthews Ridge Golden Cavaliers FC when the final of the Matarkai Sports Committee second annual football competition was contested recently at Region One.
Watched by a large and colourful crowd, James put his team ahead within three minutes of play before extending the lead four minutes later. He then completed his hat-trick in the 12th minute with a powerful strike to hand his team a 3-0 lead at the break.
Keanu Williams pulled one back for Matthew’s Ridge before Joshua Williams and Eon Gill scored a goal each to give Oronoque Slingerz FC the first prize of $150,000. James was named MVP of the final, while Joshua Williams was voted the tournament’s MVP.
Matthews Ridge beat defending champions Citrus Grove 3-0 in their semi final encounter played earlier.
