Dear Editor:
To listen to Bharrat Jagdeo speak is to test ones stomach. Jagdeo is spouting about supersession when all the world know what he did to senior Colonels of the GDF including Gordon Benn, “BJ” Ross, Frank Bishpam, and Lawrence Paul.
The unmitigated gall of the man is beyond belief. Now he is attempting to castigate this government for moving in the right direction with regard to a former GIMPEX employee who displayed an appalling lack of professionalism required for the constitutional office he holds.
Let Jagdeo tell citizens what was the thinking of the PPP government when it decided to supersede Nigel Hoppie, Lindon Alves, and Dale Alves by Clifton Hicken when promotion to Assistant Commissioner was being considered. Was it as a reward for the Linden debacle where three Guyanese were murdered? Jagdeo by his posturing is showing us daily why he was always unfit and improper to become president of this Cooperative Republic and so he remains to this day.
For the benefit of the uninformed, it was always a PPP strategy to populate the upper echelons of the police force with persons of a certain ilk. Is it any wonder that we are inundated with news of this or that nefarious activity that is shielded from the light of day?
Why is it taking almost a month for the DPP to come up with a decision on Dookie? Why was Dookie permitted to proceed on vacation leave when everyone knows that it is customary practice that ranks do not go on leave once there is an investigation ongoing? What is the Guyana Revenue Authority’s role in this entire whiskygate? Why were complaints of sexual harassment against a certain small-division commander never investigated? Why is a certain large division commander not taking his substantial accrued vacation leave while others are ordered to take theirs?
The government needs to do a rethink of its accord with the elements within the coalition if obstacles to genuine reform are to be removed.
Faithfully
Gervy Grandison
