Not only has its unaccredited status been exposed by the National Accreditation Council [NAC], but the Critchlow Labour College [CLC] yesterday also disassociated itself from the institution.
In a statement issued yesterday, CLC said, “The Critchlow Labour College wishes to make clear that the American Medical Institution is not operating out of the College’s facilities on Woolford Avenue, Georgetown, and has no association with the College.”
CLC also made it clear that it is usually in the habit of making every effort to ensure that courses offered are provided by organisations/entities that are accredited by the NAC. It was in light of this awareness CLC said that it had not dared to associate itself with institution in question.
“The American Medical Institution is not accredited with the NAC. As such, the American Medical Institution is not associated with the Critchlow Labour College. Information from the Institution suggesting otherwise is false. No classes were scheduled or held at the Critchlow Labour College by the American Medical Institution,” the CLC statement highlighted.
Further CLC in its statement said that it remains committed to providing quality post-secondary and tertiary educational programmes that is demand-driven and reflective of the industry needs.
The CLC response comes on the heels of a statement issued last week by NAC exposing the unaccredited operation of the institution out of the CLC Woolford Avenue compound.
In its statement, the NAC sought to advise the public that the American Medical Institution is not registered with the NAC as is legally required for post-secondary and tertiary educational institutions operating in Guyana.
It was also pointed out that the said institution was operating out of the Critchlow Labour College on Woolford Avenue and had informed its students and members of the public that it has been granted approval to operate by Chairman of the Board of Directors of the NAC, Mr. Vincent Alexander.
Moreover, in its statement too, the NAC advised that the Chairman has not, on any occasion or for any reason, granted approval to any institution by the forgone name. In fact, it was made clear by NAC that such an institution is not known to it
