Justice Navindra Singh will on February 5, sentence Neville France, who on Monday pleaded guilty to unlawfully killing his brother.
France who was initially indicted for murder pleaded guilty to the lesser offence of manslaughter when he appeared in the High Court at Georgetown.
France admitted to unlawfully killing his brother, Richard France, on December 12, 2013 in Essequibo. Sentencing for him was deferred until next month after his Attorney-at-law Siand Dhurjon was successful in requesting a probation report on his client. State Counsel Mandel Moore appeared for the state.
According to information, Richard was sitting on a bench when he was confronted by his brother after which an argument ensued. Reports suggest that the Richard, the younger sibling, walked away and his brother stabbed him in the back.
After receiving the injury, Richard attempted to run but soon collapsed on the road way.
