The Guyana Chess Federation (GCF) is set to commence its 2018 programme this weekend with the National Junior and Senior Qualifiers.
The seven-round Swiss System FIDE-rated qualifiers will start today with registration at noon and the first set of games starting an hour later.
Games are slated for the National Aquatic Centre, Railway Embankment, Liliendaal. The Juniors will compete on January 13th, 14th, 20th and 21st, while the Seniors will take to the boards on January 20th and 21st and February 3rd and 4th.
The top players from these qualifiers will move forward to compete at the National Championships, slated for later this year.
Registration fee for the qualifiers is pitted at G$1,500 per player, and interested players can call 664-1650, 613-2083 or 600-0007 for registration and other information.
