Dear Editor,
This is an open letter to Exxon’s Country Manager
Dear Sir:
We the people desire to be appraised as to the basis of your pronouncement that seven billion US dollars is the sum to be paid to Guyana for the entire life of the ‘Oil Project.’
Explanations are needed here to get further clarification to your seemingly curt statement. Points are:
(1) What period is the Life of this Project?
(2) Is LNG (liquefied natural gas) included in your seven Billion?
(3) How did you arrive at the figure of Seven Billion?
(4) To whom shall be the payee?
(5) Which entity has responsibility for the Environment?
(6) What volume of LNG is to be extracted?
(7) Export LNG price to be paid host country per cubic foot?
(8) When are payments to be paid to host country?
(9) How often will Reports be made to the Nation?
We would be most grateful for your full co-operation.
John De Barros
