…says Managing Director Troy Cadogan at Annual Christmas Children Party in Berbice
Ansa McAl Trading (Guyana) Limited (AMTL) continued its Annual Christmas tradition by taking Christmas to children and the less fortunate persons across Guyana. If fact giving, sharing and lending a helping hand is something the company does throughout the year.
Known for its widespread benevolence that touches almost all sectors of the Guyanese population, the business giant has endeavoured to do even more in Guyana. Those were the assurance of Managing Director, Troy Cadogan.
Cadogan was speaking to the media in Berbice at the Company’s Annual Christmas get-together held for children from several orphanages at the Ansa McAl Berbice Branch Office at Main and Essex Streets, New Amsterdam, Berbice.
This being the Company’s 25th year of doing business in Guyana; it has already rolled out a number of massive projects in observance of the important milestone.
Cadogan said that the Christmas Party and Media Lime was part of the Company’s social, corporate and community responsibility of giving back and helping those in need.
The children were treated to a sumptuous meal, sang songs and received gifts. They also participated in a number of games.
Also in attendance were Berbice Branch Manager, Mark Bikhai and Sales Representative, Alicia Anderson.
Cadogan identified some of the signature activities so far as the launching of a Public Service Award Scheme which will honour Guyana’s police, nurse and teacher of the year. The winners, he reiterated, will receive $500,000 each. There will be 30 consolation prizes where 10 persons in each category will receive $50,000 each.
A grand presentation ceremony is also on the card. The aim is to make the award programme an annual affair.
The Company has also unveiled a massive 50th Independence Anniversary Arch that was recently commissioned and installed at Cummings Lodge on the East Coast Demerara, Public Road.
There are plans to develop the “arch area” into an ideal Ansa McAl Park. The area will be outfitted with lights, proper benches and other recreational amenities.
A number of other activities are on the cards including outreaches, Employee and Customer Appreciation and a Silver Anniversary Reflection Celebration.
The Company’s investment in Guyana began in July 1992, with only five ‘Group products’ namely Carib Beer, Royal Extra Stout, Smalta, TrinChloro Bleach and Swinger Matches.
It is now one of the largest distribution companies in Guyana, servicing approximately 95 percent of the population with hundreds of products from four major divisions ranging from Pharmaceuticals, Construction Solutions, Consumer Products, and Beverages. It employs over 240 Guyanese, in addition to hundreds of other contracted individuals and others who depend on the company.
Over time, AMTL has contributed over $2 billion in Guyana with investments in sport, culture, education, community, the media, retail, and the automotive industries.
Cadogan said that the company is fully committed to the future of Guyana and its people.
