Bandits shot a farmer in his Friendship, East Bank Demerara home before escaping with an undisclosed amount of cash.
According to a police statement, the victim is a 65-year old who is a cash crop farmer in Friendship.
He was robbed around 06:45hrs yesterday when the three men barged into his home.
The man was also shot in his right thigh during the robbery and is in a stable condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
Investigators who visited the scene reportedly found a spent shell of a small calibre weapon, but made no arrests.
Additionally, on Saturday last, two men yesterday approached an East Coast bus driver within the National Park vicinity on Carifesta Avenue and robbed him of $360,000.
The driver of the vehicle, Omadhu Sugrim, 44, of 63 Goedverwagting, East Coast Demerara told police that he was relieved of his cash when the two men on a motorcycle approached the vehicle.
He also said that he cannot remember the motorcycle’s registration number.
Sugrim said he left the Plaisance Bus Park around 09:00 hours with a load of passengers and was robbed half an hour after his last passengers departed the minibus which bears registration number BPP 4199.
The victim said as he was about to drive off when the perpetrators rode up on the southern side of the minibus, held him at gunpoint and made demands for cash.
Sugrim said he handed over the cash to the men before they made sped off east along Carifesta Avenue.
No shots were fired and the victim did not receive any injuries.
