Dear Editor,
History is replete with examples of people using religion to justify war. Let us take the latest example which from a certain perspective is a prelude to war.
That is, American President, Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem (a shared city in between Jews, Muslims and Christians) as Israel’s Capital. Clearly, this recognition was meant to anger Muslims and provoke hostilities between Muslims and Jews much like his sharing of hate videos was meant to anger Muslims.
Then, he (American President, Donald Trump) turns around and says that he will make peace with the Palestinians.
Firstly, the Jews claimed that the lands are based on a promise by God to give them the land. Yet, it was the United Nations from whom they accepted the land known as Israel. Shouldn’t they be waiting for God to actually come and restore the land to them? Or, have they abandoned God?
Secondly, only God through Jesus Christ will make peace in the world. Does anyone actually believe that American President, Donald Trump is Jesus Christ?
Thirdly, as a Christian we are supposed to live peacefully with our neighbours not provoke hostilities.
Fourthly, Americans have come to believe that they are “God’s Own People” because of economic prowess. They believe that because they are seen to be protecting Israel that they will be accepted into God’s Grace.
Fifthly, on the American Currency it says “In God we Trust” when it is very clear that Americans do not trust God but trust money/wealth.
Make no mistake; war is coming and everyone will feel its impact. This is because those who have so much want more and more. And, those who have little want more. No one seems to be contented with what she or he has.
Yours Faithfully
Sean Ori
