THE Berbice Cricket Board Senior 50 over competition continued over the last weekend at venues across the county. At the Port Mourant Community Center, hosts RHTYSC defeated Upper Corentyne Cricket Association (UCCA) by 8 wickets in their match. Batting first, UCCA only managed to score 70 runs all out in 26.2 overs. The only batsmen to reach double figures were Balram Persaud 20, Lakeram Latchman 17 and A. Hemchand 12.
Bowling for the RHTYSC, Keon Sinclair took 5 for 39 off his 10 overs, Eon Hooper 2-13 off 8 overs and Sean Pereira 2 -2 of 2.2 overs. In their reply, the RHTYSC batsmen reached the target in just 16.1 overs and losing 2 wickets in the process. Batsmen Jason Sinclair was left not out on 48, while Junior Sinclair scored 14. Bowling for UCCA Lakeram Latchman and Devendra Budhoo took one wicket each.
At the Albion Community Center, Albion defeated Skeldon Community Center by 9 wickets in their match which was reduced to 45 overs per side. Batting first, Skeldon Community Center scored 86 all out in 20 overs. Batsmen Gajendra Nauth and Zekiel Gordon were the only 2 to reach double figures with 22 runs each. Bowling for Albion, Jonathon Foo took 5-24 in 5 overs, Kelvin Omram 2-19 in 6 overs, while Steven Kamaludeen and Balchand Baldeo took 1 wicket each.
In Albion’s reply, Surujnarine Kandasammy scored 63 and received valuable support from Adrian Sukwah who scored 18. Albion reached the total of 87 for the loss of one wicket.
In Western Berbice, Blairmont defeated Bush Lot United by 10 wickets. Batting first, Bush Lot was bowled out for 82 runs in 19.5 overs. Bowling for Blairmont, Javid Karim took 5-20 in 7 overs, while D. McCalmont and Waqar Hassan took 2 wickets each, In their reply, Blairmont reached the target in just 6.5 overs with Z. Inshan scoring 34 and Martin Singh 47 not out.
