The ten Cricket Teams and Over-35 Group of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS on Tuesday last launched their Christmas Programme for the less fortunate, youths and elderly. A special Pensioners Project was held outside the Rose Hall Town Post Office as the pensioners waited to collect their monthly Old Age Pensions.
The Club has started a multi-million Charity Programme that will run until December 24 with the main aim of making positive differences in the lives of those who need assistance and putting smiles on the faces of children.
A Club delegation led by Vice President Mark Papannah, Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster and Assistant Organising Secretary Ravin Kissoonlall provided a box lunch to each pensioner along with liquid refreshments.
The cricket teams also entertained the pensioners with a collection of Christmas Carols while a Medical Team from the Ministry of Health provided medical assistance to those who were feeling unwell.
Fifteen lucky pensioners were also chosen via a lottery system to receive food hampers for the Christmas Season. Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster informed that since 1991, the Club has hosted the Christmas Outreach Programme as part of its Annual Charity Campaign.
Members are encouraged by Management to get involved in touching the lives of those in need especially children, the elderly and single parents who are struggling to support their children.
This year’s programme would include the hosting of a children Christmas party, donations to Children Orphanages, distribution of 300 food hampers to families, donation of educational materials to students, feeding of the poor, distribution of clothing and footwear, sponsorship of Christmas Television Programmes, oldies Christmas party, distribution of 1000 toys to less fortunate children and the hosting of the 3rd Annual Christmas Village.
Foster stated that the Club was quite passionate about making sure that no one goes hungry, thirsty or lonely during the festive season whilst noting that they would continue to invest in the welfare of senior citizens as it was important to honour those who laid the foundation for the present generation to build on.
It was also revealed that the Club would be working towards providing snacks for the pensioners on the first three working days of 2018. Special thanks have been extended to the Management and Staff of Sueria Manufacturing, the Ministry of Health, Terry Pike Grocery and DTV-8 for making the Pensioners Project a success.
The ten cricket teams of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS are King Solomon Logistics Under-12, Poonai Pharmacy Under-13, Farfan & Mendes Under-15, BakewellUnder-17 & Second Division, Pepsi Under-19 and Intermediate, Metro Females and Gizmos & Gadgets Under-21 and First Division.
