-Albouystown ‘A’ in must win to advance
Defending champion Sparta Boss, overcame Channel-9 Warriors 1-0 in a must win showdown to seal their place in the knockout round, when the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Georgetown zone continued at the National
Cultural Centre tarmac.
The holders displayed their championship pedigree and resilience under wet conditions, to overturn the advances of the East Ruimveldt unit in front of a large and boisterous crowd.
The lanky Cleyon Forrester provided the fatal shot in the fifth minute, breaking the hearts of the Channel-9 Warriors support staff, to secure his team’s berth in the next round.
Similarly, Ol Skool Ballers defeated Gaza Squad 1-0 to maintain their hopes of a position in the elimination section. Roy Cassou was on target in the 15th minute.
Meanwhile, West Front Road sent a stern warning to the field, humbling North Ruimveldt 2-0 through a Deon Alfred double in the sixth and seventh minutes.
In other results, California Square maintained their status as dark horses, mauling Stabroek Ballers 3-0, while Norton Street upset highly touted Sophia 3-0.
Also, dangerous Upsetters downed East Front Road 1-0, while surprise package Kingston needled New Market Street 1-0 and North East La Penitence battled past Festival City 1-0.
