High School students from across the country will be given a chance to pitch their business ideas when the Young Leader of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) and the United States Embassy in Guyana host a three-day ‘Youth Innovation Camp’ next month.
The boot camp which is slated for December 18-20, in Georgetown, will be an entrepreneurial immersion, targeting teams of high school students between the ages of 15 and 17, who are interested in becoming social or business entrepreneurs.
The camp’s participants will be exposed to talks from business advisors and business leaders in various sectors across Guyana. They will also receive training on developing their business plan to act as a roadmap for start-up in the future growth.
Applications for the youth camp closed last week Saturday.
Members of the YLAI Guyana Alumni include Abbigale Loncke, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Community Health Care; Triston Thompson, co-founder of Intellect Storm; Dason Anthony, CEO of 592 Dresses; Shaunda Yarde, CEO of Golden Crunch Coconut Biscuits and Judason Bess, CEO of the Farmacy.
YLAI builds linkages between younger leaders across the hemisphere. It also helps to address the opportunity gap for youth, especially women, by empowering entrepreneurs and civil society leaders with the training, tools, networks and resources they need to transform their societies and contribute more fully to economic development and prosperity, security, human rights and good governance in the hemisphere.
The YLAI Professional Fellows Program aims to empower Latin American and Caribbean business and social entrepreneurs to transform their societies and contribute more fully to economic development and prosperity, security, human rights and good governance in the hemisphere.
The YLAI Network is a vibrant community of young entrepreneurs and change makers from Latin America and the Caribbean who are committed fostering economic development and prosperity, security, human rights and good governance in the hemisphere.
The YLAI Network is a signature part of the U.S. government’s efforts to increase partnerships with future leaders to help promote economic growth and strengthen civil society.
