The Berbice Cricket Board’s 50 overs first division competition resumed last weekend at the # 73 Cricket Club Ground in the Upper Corentyne Region with an intensive matchup between Skeldon Community Center and the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association teams.
Batting first under glorious sunshine, Upper Corentyne scored 198 all out in 37.1 overs in the match which was reduced to 45 overs. Lakeram Latchman top scored with 57, Somdat Singh 37, while Rishi Persaud and T. Ramotar contributed with 23 and 20 respectively. Bowling for Skeldon Community Center, S. Rasheed took 2-24, Jermaine Reid 3-48 in 8 overs, Sherwin Murray 2-50 in 9 overs, and A. Applesammy 1-45 in his 7 overs.
In their reply, Skeldon Community Center fell short of the total by 2 runs in a nail biting finish; Skeldon scored 196 in 38.4 overs. Batsman Jermaine Reid scored 50, Christopher Jaundoo 37 and T. Ramdass 34. Sherwin Murray made 27. In their bowling, L. Latchman had figures of 2-29, Balram Persaud 2-27, T. Ramotar 1-20 and A. Hemchand 1-20.
First Division action continues at venues across the county on Sunday December 3.
