As the GCB/Jaguars One Day 50 League enters its second round, 2017 Jaguars 3 Day League champions, Essequibo, West Demerara, and 2016 Jaguars 3 Day League champions, who are also the defending Jaguars 50 overs champions, Lower Corentyne lead the points standings on eight points each, having all accumulated two super bonus bowling points to add to their first round victory points of 6. Upper Corentyne, which also enjoyed a first round victory, lies closely behind the top three teams with 6 points, while the other four Franchise teams are yet to “mark their names” on the points table.
The second round of matches will commence today from 09:00 hours at four venues across the country. It should be noted, that the GCC ground, Bourda, became unavailable for this second round match due to rainfall which created great doubts on the possibility of play there today.
As a consequence, there have been shifts in the assigned venues, with the second round fixture now reading East Coast versus West Berbice at the Enterprise ground, Georgetown playing Essequibo at the Everest ground, Lower Corentyne facing Upper Demerara/East Bank at the Albion Community Centre ground, and West Demerara coming up against Upper Corentyne at the Tuschen ground.
