-unpredictable weather forces change
Due to the unpredictable weather pattern co-ordinators Three Peat Promotions have decided to move the Georgetown Zone Playoffs from Meadow Brook Tarmac to California Square in East Ruimveldt.
The move became necessary because the playing condition at the original venue is almost unplayable when it rains due to the slippery surface.
According to a member of the co-ordinating group, the surface which is concrete in nature poses a serious threat to players risking injuries when the rain falls and it is because of this concern they’ve decided to switch the venue.
They’ve issued an apology for any inconvenience the move may have caused.
However, the fixtures have been released and teams are being asked to be at the venue for 18:00hrs for a prompt start due to the amount of matches that has to be played to arrive at the final sixteen to join the sixteen automatic qualifiers for the November 22 commencement of the Georgetown Zone Competition.
This year’s playoffs has seen a record number of entries and this clearly emphasizes the growing popularity in what has rightly been described as a phenomenon with massive turnouts at all the venues.
The Organisers Banks DIH under its Guinness brand has decided to return to the communities and this decision has been welcomed with happiness from the teams and fans alike.
Meanwhile, all teams are being reminded that the close off date for submission of entries is today and they are being urged to adhere to the request of the Organisers and co-ordinating group so that the group draws could be made early.
Teams failing to submit by today’s deadline risk not being considered for this year’s competition.
Winner of the overall event will walk-away with $500,000 and the championship trophy along with automatic qualification for the National Playoffs.
The runner-up, third and fourth placed finishers will receive $250,000, $200,000 and $100,000 respectively.
Forms can be uplifted from Banks DIH Limited ‘Caesars Place’ Durban Street location or Referee Coordinator Wayne Griffith on 697-7777 or Three Peat Promotions Rawle Welch on tele: 688-1776 and Duncan Saul at Stabroek News.
Teams who do not submit entries by the stipulated deadline will not be permitted to play.
Meanwhile, Three Peat Promotions Co-Director Rawle Welch collected several footballs for the playoff round in the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Georgetown zone. Donating the balls was Colours Boutique, who representative Troy Lamazon presented the items.
