Drug dealer, Ron Cadogan, 21, who was recently sentenced to six years in jail on cocaine and marijuana charges, has been jailed for three more years by Magistrate, Renita Singh in the Reliance Magistrate’s Court on another marijuana
charge.
Cadogan, of Lot 365 Third Street, East Canfield, East Canje, Berbice, threw in the towel during his trial and pleaded guilty to the charge of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
According to the Prosecution, Cadogan was among a group of men liming at the corner of Galaxy Street, Canefield, East Canje Berbice on February 18, last. The Police were on mobile patrol when they noticed the group acting in a suspicious manner. Upon seeing the police, they began to run.
The police gave chase and Cadogan was seen throwing a red and white gift bag in some nearby bushes. The bag was retrieved and was found to contain what appear to be leaves, seeds and stems of the marijuana plant.
Cadogan who was found hiding in some nearby bushes was arrested and taken into custody. The item was weighed and tested and found to be 167 ½ grams of marijuana.
After he changed his plea to guilty, Magistrate Renita Singh sentenced him to three years in jail which will run concurrently to three of the six years that he was sentenced to recently. Thus he will be serving six years in jail.
His latest arrest is the third within a year, having been found guilty and previously arrest for being in possession of cocaine and marijuana on three previous occasions.
He was arrested on Wednesday, February 18, along with his 49-year-old wife, Hafina Ali, and his 21-year-old step daughter, Melissa Cadogan, at their home with four grams of cocaine and 104 grams of marijuana. He was jailed for six years on that matter.
He had four grams of marijuana in his pocket on March 10, 2016. He was found guilty and fined $3,000 or four months in jail. He was also arrested in April 2013 when he was 17 years old with four grams cocaine during a police sting operation.
The police had secreted themselves in the neighbourhood and used a decoy to purchase the cocaine. During the transaction, the cops moved in and nabbed him.
