Dear Editor,
One of the critics of last Thursday’s protest was The President himself calling the protesters “vulgarians.” Now, this is the most diabolical, hypocritical and very low blows of all time, statements coming from a person and party that is known to be the architect of “vulgarity.”
No one in the PNC can in its truest sense be called “decent” moral or above board in their deliberations. One would have to use a microscope, an electron microscope at that to find one. Everybody in Guyana, yes, everybody in the world knows who they are and what they represent.
In this regard, Mr Granger is baring himself before the public’s view as very hypocritical whenever he uses this kind of language to describe the protest action carried out by The Opposition – the accusing finger points right back at him.
He, or anyone in his cabal for that matter of fact, can categorise The PPP/C as vulgar because history is replete of such atrocities by his party, instances too numerous to mention. I call it the two Vs, vulgar and violent; these are the two words that aptly describe The PNC, and they use these in copious measure whenever the situation is not in their favour.
Let me remind Mr Granger that all, I repeat, in every election, the PNC were vulgar and violent, with the last election the vulgarity and violence being sustained up until the time of the result. The violence only ended when the desired result went their way. That was the only thing that stopped the vulgar display and the ever present violence. So that clause of my argument is a foregone conclusion.
What the People might not have seen last Thursday was that there was a counter— a Pro-Granger group, a counter offensive to the PPP/C’S Protesters who were doing their vulgar display. There on the very square was a counter offensive group (not very large) but very lewd and vociferous shouting vile expletives at The Opposition’s crowd.
It was a shameful display. One guy even dropped his pants and bared his genitals right in the presence of the police officers. These occurrences was carried by the PNC Sympathetic media and splashed across on You-tube. If this is not vulgarity then what is? I thank God for the Peace Officers who were there to separate the two groups, because the marauding mob had already thrown down the barricades and were advancing towards The Opposition Protesters.
I shudder to think of the fate of The Protesters had the (supporters) had their way. These are the vulgarians Mr. Granger and crew should be talking about.
For historical records I was told that an education minister was known to have taken off her panties and threw it in the face of Peter D’Aguiar, while calling him a “putagee” traitor. This was done during the 1960’s. My Guyanese Countryman related that this incident took place in the hallowed chambers of Parliament itself. If this is not considered sick and the lowest of lows then what is?
But if that is not a strange phenomenon when one viewed the vulgar display by a supporter of the PNC in Sophia who urinated on the PPP’S Flag in plain public viewing. Isn’t this vulgar? Isn’t this lewdness down to its lowest?
Even the Former PPP guys like Nagamootoo who crossed over to the PNC when he would have joined that vulgar group became corrupt himself and called out to Dr Jagdeo as “The Coolie bully.” This incident again was done in parliament. It just goes to show when you join them you behave like them. Birds of one feather!
So Mr President, please be careful with the use of such terminologies as “vulgar.” It is really an indictment on your party. In Guyanese history, violence and vulgarity are the signature statements of your party.
Respectfully Submitted
Neil Adams,
Everton Adams
