DEAR EDITOR,
I must register my dismay over the behaviour of the opposition leader Bharrat Jagdeo and members of the 0pposition in the hallowed walls of Guyana’s parliament on Thursday, November 2nd, 2017.
It was total disrespect to the president, Mr. David Granger, for Mr. Jagdeo and his cohorts to turn august chambers into a place of intimidation. Their placards, loud shouts and crude banging on tables drowned out the President’s address.
Mr. Jagdeo needs to act more responsibly and set an example. It’s everyone’s right to protest, but it’s the manner in which it was done that has, in my view, made him appear childish and utterly disrespectful!
As the opposition leader, Jagdeo needs to be deferential. He should do well to remember that he was once a president. I hope when his time comes to speak in Parliament, that he would stand bold, tall and unbreakable like President Granger, and take it like a man!
