Brusche’s Classic final… Georgetown’s Ravens fly against Linden’s Amelia’s Ward Jets tonight for $300,000

The big question is can the Amelia’s Ward Jets retain their Brusche’s Classic title when they face Ravens in the final tonight at the Mackenzie Sports Club hard court for the $300,000 winner’s purse.
Jets, two years ago, were quarter-backed by the brilliance of their guest player Akeem Kanhai and newly acquired shooting guard Orin Rose who were the architects that gave the Linden town its first hold of the crown which had eluded them the previous four outings.
Rose is arguably one of the most dangerous shooters around and with Kanhai, undoubtedly among the cleverest players in the land, they will have a ready unit which includes Adrian Webster, Nathan Saul and Joel Webster among others to put up a defence of worth tonight.
It was Rose’s late surge of shots from down town which capped a good fourth quarter game by Jets who romped home eventually by two points.
However, the Jets would know that this Ravens’ side once again has great experience and led by the solid game of Ryan Stephney who has been in great form and Ryan Gullen who is one of the best shooting guard/forward around.
They are joined by the young Dominic Vincent, the versatile Jermain Slater and high jumping Tyrone Hamid, all capable of playing Ravens into a winning position.
The supporting game is for the third place which has $100,000 and that also is why this game between losing semifinalists Colts of Georgetown and Linden’s Victory Valley Royals, pre-tournament favourites, will not be an easy one to call.
The championship winners this year will collect $300,000 and the right to be called Brusche’s Classic champions and the right to a two year reign.
But the first game at 19.00hrs is between Colts and Royals and the final’s at 21:00hrs featuring Ravens of Georgetown and Linden’s defending champions Amelia’s Ward Jets.
