Dear Editor,
As the rainy season is approaching, and with the announcement from the Hydromet office that rainfall during the Christmas season is expected to be between 85 and 90 percent above average, I would like to once again raise the issue of deplorable road in Good Hope Phase 3.
On dry days the road is difficult to maneuver and worse than the roads in the backdams. It has been over four years of constant back and forth to get anyone to listen or do anything. The NDC, RDC and Central Housing and Planning Authority say they can’t do anything, since this part of the scheme is not under their jurisdiction.
How can a village that was established under the Central Housing and Planning Authority cannot do anything after collecting $400,000 for a land and with an occupancy rate of over 60%, while large sums of monies are being spent to regularize squatting areas and provide paved roads.
I hope the President and the Minister of Communities read this letter, because it seems like before you get action in Guyana, you have to go straight to the top of the government.
