Kennard Memorial Turf Club now the place to be
Due to circumstance beyond the organisers control there has been a change of venue for the Grand One day Charity Horserace meet slated for this Sunday.
The event which is organised by the No28 Bush Lot in Action Charity Group of Kildonan Corentyne Berbice will now be held at The Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club, Bush Lot, Farm, Corentyne Berbice and not the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club any longer. All arrangement remains the same with Major Companies including Ansa Mc Al Guyana Limited, Nand Persaud and Company Limited, Colin Elcock Delmur Company Limited, Fazal Habibulla, Rumours Racing Stable and Golden Gloves Speed Boat Service among others being the main sponsors.
Six races are listed on the day’s programme with over $2M in cash, trophies and other memorabilia at stake. Over 35 horses have already registered for the days meet.
The feature event remains for animals classified H and lower over a distance of 7 furlongs with the winner taking away $240,000 and trophy.
The other events listed for the day are the J and lower six furlongs event for a winner’s prize of $170,000 and trophy.
There is the race for K and lower animals for a winning take of $120,000 and trophy over five furlongs. The L1 and lower event has a first prize of $100,000 and trophy.
The other events are for Horses classified L2 and lower and those unclassified for hefty pay days and trophy.
Entries close on October 29.
A number of side attractions for kids and adults are also planned for the day.
The group, which has been feeding kids at a nearby primary school, will also use some of the funds garnered to continue that programme. They are also expected to assist kids with gifts during the Christmas season.
The event will be conducted using the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority.
