Match day number two (2) of the Petra/Turbo knockout football tournament being sponsored by Guyana Beverage Company kicks off tonight at the Ministry of Education (MOE) Ground on Carifesta avenue from 18:30hrs with two games.
The first match will afford the city fans the opportunity to see Linden side, Silver Shattas match skills with powerhouses GFC. Shattas are the inform team and have extended their run in the ongoing Mayor’s Cup tournament to the quarterfinal stage. Meanwhile, GFC will be licking their wounds after being booted from the said tournament and will come out guns blazing with a point to prove.
The feature match of the double-header tonight begins at 20:00hrs and will pit the young and quick legs of Santos FC spearheaded by National winger William Europe against the well run feeder club Grove High-tech which is East Bank based, that continuously produces top young talent. This match is expected to be fast paced as the exuberance of these two developing teams is expected to entertain fans as they go all out for one step closer to 1st prize of $500,000.
Tonight will not be the only evening for the week fans will get to see high quality football, as the tournament will continue on Thursday with two more matches under the recently installed lights at the MOE ground beginning at 18:30hrs.
Thursday’s first match will see West Demerara’s Uitvlugt battling East Bank’s Soesdyke Falcons.
The feature clash on that night will be contested between city side Riddim Squad and West Demerara’s Pouderoyen at 20:00hrs.
