A teenager was yesterday ordered to post $100,000 bail by Senior Magistrate, Leron Daly after he denied a charge of escaping lawful custody.
Brandon Persaud, 17, of Lot 11 Delph Street, Campbellville, Georgetown, denied the charged which alleged that on October 12, last, at the Brickdam Police Station, while being in custody pending a charge of possession of narcotics, he escaped from lawful custody.
The defendant was represented by Attorney-at-law, Tiffany Jeffery; the lawyer asked that bail be granted to her client since he has never been charged before.
The lawyer told the court that her client was under the impression that he was free to leave the station and her client walked out the station in the presence of police officers.
The lawyer added that he client was later found at his home in his bed. Magistrate Daly then ordered the defendant to return to court on September 30.
