A 59-year-old man was yesterday charged and remanded to prison for possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
Hydrabad Ally of Lot 40 Edinburgh, East Bank Berbice appeared before Magistrate Alex Moore. He is being represented by his attorney Charandass Persaud. He pleaded not guilty. Bail was refused.
He is set to return to court on the 3rd November, 2017 for report.
According to the facts of the case, at 18: 40 hrs on Monday, acting on information, Senior Superintendent Edmond Cooper and a party stopped a grey 212 Toyota Carina motorcar at Highbury, East Bank Berbice.
It was driven by Hydrabad Ally, of Lot 40 Edinburgh, East Bank Berbice.
A search was carried out on the vehicle and in the trunk a white polyethylene bag with three transparent bulky parcels containing cannabis was found.
The contents when weighed amounted to 13.5 pounds. The contents and car were lodged and Ally was arrested.
