In a press release, the Guyana Hockey Board (GHB) stated that the entity, “Expects this event to contribute significantly to Guyana’s efforts of becoming a priority destination for sports tourism.”
The correspondence further explained that the GOA is no stranger to hockey and has worked together with the Guyana Hockey Board on several projects over the years, “The Guyana Olympic Association has always been a great supporter of hockey locally and our sport has benefitted a lot from their efforts over the years,” the release stated. President of the GHB, Philip Fernandes, was very excited about this development being quoted in the release saying that, “When we first embarked on the Diamond Mineral Water Festival in 2004, the GOA was one of the main organisations to give us their support.
