A 33-year-old woman was killed on Monday when the tractor her husband was driving toppled at Four Hour Backdam, Cuyuni River, Region Seven.
The victim has been identified as Gleiane Almedia Ferreira, of Lot ‘C’ Grove, East Bank Demerara, and Madayoung, Brazil. The accident occurred around 16:30 hrs.
According to information received, the victim’s husband was heading to Dukwarie Landing, Cuyuni on a tractor.
While he was approaching a steep hill, the tractor reportedly toppled, causing the woman to fall off.
Kaieteur News was informed that she was sitting on the left side fender of the tractor. Her husband managed to jump off and save himself.
The driver told the police that when he got up, he noticed his wife lying motionless on the roadway. He claimed that the tractor ran over her.
