Dear Editor,
The author of your article on the X-tat issue at MacKenzie Hospital can only be described as someone with a corrupt mind. A portable X-RAY machine is approximately 6 feet high and weighs over 300lbs. We, at MacKenzie Hospital perform special X-RAY examinations which other government hospitals do not carry out. These include: the throat, stomach, intestines, kidneys, ureters and urinary bladder, also the uterine tubes (in females who are unable to conceive), etc.
Both X-RAY rooms are operational and there is no cost attached. I carry out X-RAYs with our portable X-RAY unit – whether in ICU, Neonatal ICU, Theatre, A&E or general wards. Request cards go directly to the receptionist, who then informs me or sometimes doctors call me directly. This is the procedure.
Brian Claxton
Head of X-Ray Department
