A man who admitted to stealing his sister’s silver band and selling it in the market to buy ‘fronto’- a leaf commonly used to wrap marijuana before it is smoked- was yesterday jailed for three months after admitting to the offence.
Appearing before Senior Magistrate, Leron Daly was Damon Smith, who pleaded guilty to the charge which stated that on September 26, last, at Laing Avenue, West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, he stole a silver band, property of Felecia Smith.
An unrepresented Damon told the Magistrate that he stole the silver band and sold it in the market.
He said, “Then I buy ‘fronto’ and smoke out the rest of the money.”
The siblings resided in the same house. Damon, who is said to be in the habit of stealing from his family, admitted to the offence when arrested by the police.
After considering his early guilty plea, Magistrate Daly imposed the custodial sentence.
Meanwhile, in another matter before the said Magistrate, a man was jailed for nine months for snatching a woman’s cellular phone.

According to reports, Leitch snatched the woman’s phone and kicked her about the body before escaping. He was later apprehended by the police.
