The 15th annual Victor Marcedo Memorial Cycle Road is scheduled to peddle off on Sunday at 07:30hrs from Homestretch Avenue after a rolling start from 224 Peter Rose Street Queenstown.
Seniors and juniors will proceed to Long Creek on the Linden Highway (hill after the tall antenna), while Veterans, Pre-Juniors and Mountain Bikers would ride to the top of the hill after Splashmin’s Fun Park with all cyclists returning to finish on Homestretch Avenue.
There will be prizes for first eight finishers overall, first four juniors and the first three in all remaining categories in addition to 10 sprint point prizes.
The event has been organised by Flying Stars Cycling Club and sponsored by Floyd Macedo and Macedo Transportation Services.
The late Victor Macedo was the father of former outstanding Cyclist Floyd and very supportive of his son and other Cyclists and his relatives are using this memorial event to help in the development of cycling nationally.
Stepano Husbands won the 2016 ‘Open’ in a time of 3:11:0.70, while Raphael Leung captured the Junior title, Junior Niles took the Veterans crown, Adellia Hodge (Juvenile) and Ozea McCully (MTB).
