Jaipaul Deochand, the 54-year-old cyclist who was struck by a car on August 14, died at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation last Wednesday without regaining consciousness.
A post-mortem revealed that he had suffered a fractured skull.
Deochand, of Burma Road, East Coast Demerara, was riding on the Burma Road, East Coast Demerara when a car struck him. His immediate neighbours called the police and prevented the driver from leaving the scene.
There are reports that the driver’s headlights were off when the accident occurred.
Mr. Deochand had lived with his two sons since his wife died four years ago.
Deochand was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit for two days before being transferred, still unconscious, to the Male Surgical ward.
Deochand was cremated last week.
