Aug 30, 2017 Letters
Dear Editor,
I am seeking the media’s help and assistance of others in this situation here at my residence at Capoey compound. Mr. Editor I am a single parent with 3 children and 5 grandchildren. I am living at Capoey compound for the past 23 years (since 29th march, 1994) and a man (name supplied) who happens to live very close by and who was a top regional official in 2000 has been victimizing me for years.
I wrote letters to the then president, Mr. Jagdeo but nothing happened. I get no peace; he is claiming my place as his own. Mr. Editor after the 2015 elections, I wrote his Excellency President Granger for the legal lease to my property. He sent my letter to the minister of communities Mr. Bulkhan and they made contact with me and after the process, I was told to go to the lands and surveys department in region 2 and apply for my lease which I did. Since October 2016, my lease was approved which I thank the government for. But the torment still continues to date, this man once the big wig in 2002 is now a big wig in the NDC.
There was some dirt at the back of my place on the sea defence and I asked the Regional Chairman, Mr. Ramdatt and the N.I.D.A engineer for some of the dirt and they give me. On the 24th and 25th April, 2017 an excavator came and put the dirt in my yard but the next day the rain started falling and my yard was flooded so I could not get a grader to spread the dirt. Whenever rain falls (for all the years) this man drains his waters in my yard and when I complain I am ignored; there is no betterment. This man has all his house gutters over at my yard. This was under the previous administration and under the present one, it is the same thing …no change.
On Tuesday 22nd August, I received messages that the region’s excavator and tractors with trailors were in my yard so I went home and saw the excavator operator digging out the dirt. I ask the operator who sent him in my yard to dig the dirt and he said the engineer and the other man said the overseer and they left the machine and went over to the man who is bullying me. I called the regional chairperson and she said she did not know about the situation; she would have to find out.
I called Mr. Derick Kowlessar from the Ministry of communities and he called up officials from the region and they knew nothing also. I later learnt that the big wig that is the subject of this letter here gave the okay to dig the dirt from my yard to take to a place in Queenstown to make a makeshift park. To my surprise yesterday about 8.00 am, I heard a loud noise in my yard and I looked out of my window to see the said excavator in my yard; again digging out the rest of the dirt and loading it in trailors again. I asked the operator who instructed him to dig again but he did not answer me but continue digging the dirt.
I called Mr. Derick once again. I called the chairperson. I called the Anna Regina police. Mr. Editor I would like to know where is the change and betterment I was promised by this administration. I voted for change but to date I am being harassed, victimized and tormented. Why? Where is the better life I was promised. Ministers Joseph Harmon and Volda Lawrence and Prime Minister Moses Nagamootto know about my situation and how I was being harassed, tormented and victimized by the previous administration, and now the same continues under the present one…what did I vote for….better or worse? My yard was fenced and this NCD big wig cut down my fence and took away all my materials in 2002.Mr. Harmon is aware of that. Looking forward for your kind assistance to expose these matters for all to see.
