Former murder accused Regan Rodrigues, called ‘Grey Boy,’ is back in custody and may make a court appearance today.
This time it’s in connection with death threats he allegedly made to Donna Harcourt, the mother of slain political activist Courtney Crum-Ewing.
Police had been trying to locate Rodrigues since August 12, when the threats were allegedly made. He was reportedly arrested last week and police held a confrontation between the suspect and Mrs. Harcourt yesterday.
It is alleged that Rodrigues threatened to “wipe out” Mrs. Harcourt for accusing him of killing her son.
Mrs. Harcourt said that ‘Grey Boy’ made the threats on August 12, while she was at her stall at Regent and Wellington Streets. She said that a number of eyewitnesses were present. She later filed a report at the Brickdam Police Station and also spoke to an attorney.
Mrs. Harcourt, who was accompanied by her husband, Eustace Harcourt, told Kaieteur News that she was sitting at her stand with a friend at around 10.00 hrs, when she heard someone shouting “Donna…Donna!” On turning around, she saw Rodrigues and another man in a black Toyota Allion, which was parked a few feet away.
According to Mrs. Harcourt, Rodrigues began shouting at her, and even came out of the vehicle to threaten her.
“He said: ‘You been on TV saying that I kill yuh son…I is a robber-man (and) if I had the will I would wipe you out.”
She said that Rodrigues, who was wearing a pair of black ‘cut-off’ pants and a vest, eventually returned to the car and drove away.
Kaieteur News understands that officials at CID Headquarters, Eve Leary, were also told about the alleged threats.
Mrs. Harcourt expressed concern for her safety. She said she is taking the threats seriously, and recounted that her son was gunned down after receiving threats on his life.
The bullet-riddled body of Courtney Crum-Ewing was found at Third Avenue, Diamond New Scheme East Bank Demerara on March 10, 2015.
Rodrigues was subsequently charged with Crum-Ewing’s murder.
Magistrate Judy Latchman later discharged the matter, citing insufficient evidence.
