Dear Editor,
It seems to me and I know others have also recognized that the PPP is only after power once again. If one is to carefully listen to their speeches and look at their actions in the National Assembly, it is quickly visible as at their actions and reactions. The people understand their fight for power. This oil money that will be coming to the country makes them getting out of hand and will do anything to get back in power. But, we as a nation need to understand that if the PPP goes back there, then Guyana will surely have to be renamed because they will sell out everything like they were trying to do in their 23 years in government. However, during those 23 years, they almost sold the entire country out.
When I listen to those people in opposition it makes me wonder as to, where were they living for 23 years when they destroyed Guyana? Where were their voices against injustices and corruptions? Why they were not representing the people? Why they did not put systems in place to deal with development in all sectors?
I heard and read comments from the PPP’s top brass, members and supporters that are very negative as to the prison outbreak, the broadcast laws, the future of the sugar industry, the business sector development, etc. It seems that those people (PPP) just preach destruction. Mr. Editor, for 23 years the prison system was not fixed although it was over crowded. I agree with HE President Granger when he said: “it was something just waiting to happen”. Because of the overcrowding one day, it would have happened but the PPP failed to address the situation. They failed to put proper systems in place for 23 years but today they want to be saints and preach as if when they left power the prison system was fixed.
Instead of working with the Hon. Minister of Public Security Mr. Ramjattan MP, they decided to cuss out the government. They decided to talk about the inhumane conditions the prisoners went through. Oh my God! It was an emergency. Where could the prisoners be put in that very case of emergency? Maybe the government should have hired rooms in the Pegasus, Princess and the PPP’s Marriot hotel for the prisoners. I think the government should really consider using the PPP’s Marriot as a new prison; seriously it’s not making a profit.
Instead of giving the nation some form of positives vibes, the PPP uses the situation to send fear into the lives of the Guyanese nation. This shows as to how far the PPP will go to ensure their supporters remain under their spell (I don’t want to use feet, which will be most appropriate as to the way their supporters are being treated by them).
For 23 years the PPP did not fix the justice and prison systems. But today they are preaching as if they are the pharaohs of this land. As if they did all right and no wrong. But the people have to be the judges and that is why they lost 2015 elections because they were judged by the people of this great land. It amazes me to know that 23 years the PPP had in office and dictatorship was then the norm of the day since Dr. Doom took Presidency and leadership of the party. If Dr. Jagan was alive, Dr. Doom would have known his rightful place.
The PPP during their rule destroyed Guyana left, right and center, but they don’t care anymore. All they care for is the oil money and making more Pradovilles and Marriots if they get back into power. They destroyed everything they could have touched and today they stand in that noble house and want to speak as if they are prophets. Well, they maybe, they are, but they will be prophets of Dr. Doom.
To all my brothers and sisters, supporters and well-wishers of the APNU+AFC coalition government, as our country and government are going through a testing time let’s be and stay strong. Let’s continue to unite in taking Guyana forward as we are going through this time and moments of trials. We must not forget the saying; without hurdles, trials and temptations we cannot have a better and brighter future.
Moments like these will make us stronger and united for a better Guyana. We have to continue working as hard as possible in ensuring we have a better Guyana, as the coalition government is working harder each day to better our lives. While some may say that we must forget the past, we still need to reflect so as to better the future. This APNU+AFC government in May 2015 inherited a country that was corrupted and had broken infrastructures for 23 long years. The present government inherited a bankrupt sugar industry, the raid on the PetroCarib funds, poor drainage, terrible roads and a broken education system, etc. But for all the opposition wants is for EVERYTHING to be fixed in less than 3 years in government. They had 23 years to better Guyana but instead they better themselves, families, friends and supporters.
Brothers and sisters for 23 years we could not have spoken out against the injustices that caused our country to be in the hands of those corrupted cabals. If we were to open our mouths then and talk against the PPP government we would have been victimized along with our family. Today we can proudly say that democracy is here. We can openly speak against any member of the government or its agencies. Thanks to this government for allowing us to let our voices be heard.
We are today condemned by some more than they did during the PPP’s 23 years in office. There was a prison break, mask murders, massacres, the murder of a minister, spy equipment purchase for a private individual by then a government minister, etc. But then we hardly heard the voices we are hearing from today, for example the Private Sector Commission, etc. We must all acknowledge the behaviour of the opposition PPP during this time when our country needs unity. They are making every moment of it POLITICAL.
Brothers and sisters, we know that all is not well, but with your continued support and strength, GUYANA WILL RISE. Let’s support our leadership in Government. Let’s give our support and strength with prayers for the Minister of Public Security Hon. Khemraj Ramjattan and the entire law enforcement agencies at this moment. Brothers and sisters, supporters and well wishers of this APNU+AFC government, let’s be strong. Betterment doesn’t come easy but will surely come as we make the sacrifices to better Guyana. Stay STRONG and UNITED for a BETTER GUYANA under this APNU+AFC government.
