As preparations continue for the Nand Persaud Group of Companies, Sky Plus Incorporated one day Sprint Classic horserace meet, a few changes have been made.
The event is slated for Sunday 20th August at the Company’s racing facilities at No.36 Village, Macedonia Estate, Corentyne, Berbice.
Seven races are listed on the day with over $4M in cash, trophies and other incentives up for grabs.
The meet which is dubbed the “Nand Persaud Karibee Sprint Classic” will once again see the horses running in a straight line from start to finish with the distances being 880 and 660 yards.
The organisers have replaced the three year old event with one for two years old animals, while they have included another event for L class horses making it two L and lower races.
The full list of events now reads:
The feature D and lower event over 880 yards is for a winning purse of $400,000 and trophy.
The event for animals classified H and lower is for a top prize of $300,000 and trophy also over 880yards.
There is now the event for 2 Years old animals over 660 yards for $220,000 and trophy for the winner. The J class and lower animals will be looking to heat up the track for a winning take of $200,000 and trophy over 660 yards.
The K and lower 660 yards event has a winning take of $140,000 and trophy.
The first L class contest will be an 880 yards affair for the first prize of $100,000 and trophy.
The second L and lower race will be run over 660 yards with the winner getting a similar $100,000 and trophy winnings.
Champion jockey, trainer and stable will all be rewarded with trophies and other incentives compliments of the Trophy Stall of Bourda Market and the organisers.
