Acting on information received, ranks of the Guyana Police Force G Division, on
Wednesday arrested three labourers from the Adventure village on the Essequibo Coast. The suspects were apprehended by police for questioning in relation to the theft of one 12 gauge shotgun and 2 cartridges, after they reportedly broke and entered someone’s premises.
It is alleged that last Tuesday the three suspects invaded the home of a 31 year old security guard, Horace Graham, at Adventure, Essequibo Coast. The incident is believed to have occurred sometime between 18:45 hrs and 19:45 hrs on the said day.
Graham reportedly left the firearm, belonging to businessman Alfro Alphonso, along with $45,000 cash under his mattress. He then made his way to a nearby shop opposite his workplace to purchase a phone card. He then was engaged in a conversation with some friends.
Graham’s two-storey house, which is located on the northwestern side of the compound, is well secured by bolts and reinforced steel grills on all windows. However, the suspects gained entry to the lower flat through a wooden door.
Upon returning home, Graham discovered that the door was opened. He immediately combed the bottom flat and discovered the firearm missing along with two live rounds. The cash and a cutlass were also reported missing.
After intense interrogation, the suspects admitted to having committed the crime, subsequently leading police to the Adventure backdam, where they had stashed their loot. One of the suspects pointed out an area to ranks where he had thrown the firearm. Ranks then proceeded into the bush where the firearm, and two cartridges were retrieved.
