Parika Defenders, Amazon Warriors and Regal Allstars recorded victories when the Mike’s Pharmacy, Trophy Stall and Nauth’s Motor Spares 20-over softball competition continued recently.
At the Georgetown Cricket Club Ground, Bourda, Parika Defenders trounced Liger Masters by 84 runs. Avinash Shradananda struck a fine 104 and got support from K. Persaud 49 as Parika Defenders posted 240-6, batting first. Liger Masters were bowled out for 156 in reply.
Amazon Warriors beat Enterprise Legends by four wickets. Enterprise Legends batted first and were sent packing for 87 in 17.2 overs. Lakram Samaroo and Seemangal Yadram made 18 each as Salman Ghanie claimed 3-19, Randy Perreira 2-13, Raymond Bisraj 2-16 and Matadalla Persaud 2-18.
Amazon Warriors responded with 88-6 in 13.3 overs. Ghanie got 20 and Bisraj 18; Narine Roopdeo picked up 4-24. Regal Allstars got the better of Success by 20 runs. Regal Allstars took first strike and scored 173-8. R. Bissoondyal hit 40 while Sachin Singh made 38. Success was restricted to 153-5 in reply. Suraj Boodhoo struck 51 and Anil Rooplall 38. Ravi Ramnauth bagged 5-20.
The competition continues this Sunday. At Bourda at 10:00hrs on pitch one, Ariel will take on Wellman and at 13:00hrs Enterprise Legends will play Fisherman XI. On pitch two at 10:00hrs Liger Masters will face Amazon Warriors, at 13:00hrs Wellwoman will face Glen Eagle’s Warriors and at 15:00hrs 4R Lioness will take on Blue Divas.
At Hydronie, East Bank Essequibo, HS Masters will play twice on the day, first against Sunrisers Masters from 10:00hrs before facing Parika Defenders from 13:00hrs.
