Hundreds of residents of Guyana’s smallest township Rose Hall Town were thrilled on Friday last when Ms. World Guyana Vena Mookram paid an official visit to the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS.
Ms. World Guyana Vena Mookram handed out snacks and exercise books with RHTYSC Vice President Mark Papannah during her visit.
The Queen, accompanied by an official team from the local organising Ms World Committee, used the opportunity to meet residents of the township who waited for hours to meet her at the Independence Arch Square.
Ms. Mookram, who would be representing Guyana at the Ms World Contest in China later in the year, was clearly delighted at the warm welcome she received from residents, especially the little children. She assisted in the distribution of 1000 (one thousand) Say No to Suicide exercise books to school children and also was involved in sharing out snacks prepared with Namilco products.
The elegant Queen spend a great amount of time advising youths to Say No to Drugs, Crime, Suicide, Alcohol and spoke on the importance of staying in school to complete their educational career. She also advised residents to eat healthy and to exercise regularly so that they can enjoy a stress free and healthy lifestyle.
Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster expressed gratitude to the National Milling Co. Ltd for sponsoring the visit of the Queen, who was the official representative of the Company at the launching of a RHTYSC,MS/Namilco Say No/Say Yes Exercise Books Programme. RHTYSC Vice President Mark Papannah wished the Queen future success at the International level and expressed confidence that she would be an outstanding representative of our Country.
Residents of the Township expressed gratitude to the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS, and Namilco for arranging the visit, the first of its kind to the small township. Many residents took the opportunity to take photographs with the beautiful Queen and to offer words of encouragement.
Ms. Mookram was hosted by the eight cricket clubs of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club during her visit – Farfan & Mendes Under-15, Bakewell Under-17 and Second Division, Pepsi Under-19 and Intermediate, Metro Females and Gizmos & Gadgets Under-21 and First Division.
