West Ruimveldt resident, Neibu Archer, was remanded on Friday for the murder of Trevor Dublin, who succumbed last month to a knife wound after being attacked in Sophia.
Archer, 31, of Lot 469 West Ruimveldt Housing Scheme, appeared before Magistrate Zamilla Ally-Seepaul in the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court. He is to return to court on August 17.
On June 24, last, ranks of a mobile patrol found Trevor Dublin, 49, of 385 ‘C’ Field Sophia, lying in a pool of blood on a roadway in ‘E’ Field, Sophia.
The victim, a serviceman with B.K International, bore a single stab wound to the left side chest. A knife and a toque were found nearby. He was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he died shortly after. A postmortem revealed that he had suffered a punctured lung.
Police arrested Neibu Archer last week in connection with Dublin’s murder.
It was alleged that the suspect’s cap was found near the victim, and a knife, allegedly belonging to him was also found a short distance away.
Police allege that a woman with whom Archer has a relationship, stated that the suspect revealed that he had stabbed a man in Sophia and believed the victim had died.
The woman had reportedly noticed bloodstains on the suspect’s shirt.
Another woman, who is reportedly the suspect’s girlfriend, alleged that he had claimed that his shirt got bloodstained during a fight with his reputed wife.
