A key witness in the killing of 26-year-old Faiyaz Narinedatt, whose battered body was found on the roadway at Number 70 village, Berbice, on November 1, last, is being treated for suspected poisoning at a private hospital.
The 16-year-old is the individual who has been providing investigators with evidence against Marcus Brian Bisram, the alleged mastermind behind the carpenter’s murder.
Reports are that the teen became sick three days after eating a meal from one of Bisram’s relatives in Berbice on Saturday.
The police are waiting for additional information – which includes tests from the hospital – before they make an arrest.
Kaieteur News was informed that medical practitioners at the hospital are treating the young lad for poisoning. His health is said to be deteriorating.
The teen told this publication at the hospital yesterday that before the murder of Narinedatt, he would usually go over to Bisram’s relatives’ home and hang out.
However, after the murder, he was not welcomed there again.
He said that to his surprise, on Saturday last, one of the suspect’s relatives invited him over and offered him some fried-rice and a glass of drink.
“Me was de only one eating and when I done, he (Bisram’s relative) tell me to get out and not to come back,” the young man recalled.
He said that as the days went by, he started feeling sick and was getting a severe fever.
On Tuesday, his condition became worse and he was rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital before later being moved to a private hospital.
This newspaper was informed that whatever poisonous substance was given to the teenager has started “eating out” his intestines.
An extradition hearing is currently ongoing in a United States of America court for Marcus Brian Bisram.
A wanted bulletin was issued here for his arrest after it was reported that he had allegedly ordered the murder of the carpenter after his sexual advances were rejected by Narinedatt.
Narinedatt’s death had been staged to look like a hit-and-run accident and two cops in Berbice were later fingered in the cover-up.
Harripaul Parsram, 49, Orlando Dickie, 39, Radesh Motie, 39, Diadath Datt, 18 and Niran Yacoob, 37, have been charged for the murder so far.
Additionally, three individuals, including Bisram’s mother, were charged for allegedly offering a detective $4M to suppress evidence against Bisram.
